ReflectionsReflections on 2012 Mexico Mission Trip
by
Marilyn Friedersdorf

Many people who still have a real love for the people in north eastern Mexico no longer feel safe going into Mexico.  This has truly changed the face of the mission experience into Mexico.  Projects are now completed predominantly with volunteer Mexican labor with just a small amount of volunteer labor from the US.  This must be very empowering for the people in Mexico and definitely gives them a stronger feeling of ownership for their projects.  However, it is a real loss for CUPS supporters who no longer have the mission trip experience.  I wish that all CUPS supporters could still experience the love, faith & fellowship of our Mexican neighbors.

 ProjectsPROJECTS UPDATE 2012

Significant work continues to be accomplished in Mexico and the Rio Grande Valley through the efforts of CUPS and its volunteers. Members of Spring Branch Presbyterian Church, Houston, TX and First Presbyterian Church, Sugar Land, TX recently joined forces to construct benches for a colonia in Pharr, TX and assemble PETs to be delivered to Mexico.

VirtualVIRTUAL TEAM EXPERIENCE

The Virtual Mission trip took place recently from April 16-20. Members of the Virtual Mission team received real-time updates on the progress of the mission trip from Louise as she worked with local volunteers to accomplish much needed work in Valle Hermoso. Louise's log file from that week gives a glimpse into the experience of that mission trip and provides her perspective on how the Valle Hermoso community works together.
